Day 01 :
Arrive in Yangon
Arrive at Yangon airport. Meet/assist upon arrival and transfer to
hotel. Afternoon, a city tour og Yangon includes visits to the
National Museum, Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda's 70m long reclining Buddha and
Myanmar’s holiest monument, the Shwedagon Pagoda with its gold
covered Stupa. Overnight in Yangon.
Day 02 :
Yangon – Mandalay
Breakfast at hotel. After breakfast transfer to the airport to board
the flight to Mandalay. On arrival transfer to hotel. Morning a
sightseeing tour of Mandalay, Myanmar’s cultural capital, features
Mahamuni Pagoda, famous for its venerable statue of Buddha covered
with gold leaf. Mandalay has long been known as a centre of skilled
craftsmanship and in former times supplied the royal courts. A tour
of traditional workshops includes crafts such as woodcarving, marble
masonry, Kalaga tapestry and gold leaf making. Afternoon visit the
Kuthodaw Pagoda with its 729 marble stone slabs of Buddhist
scriptures (known as the world’s biggest book) and Shwenandaw
Monastery, noted for its exquisite woodcarving. Enjoy the sunset
from Mandalay Hill. Overnight in Mandalay.
Day 03 :
CRUISE
Mandalay – Sheinmaga
Breakfast at hotel. After breakfast embark on the Amara River Cruise
in the morning at about 0900 hrs.Set sail and cruise towards the
north the Ayarwaddy River till the town of Sheinmaga.
Lunch, dinner and overnight on board the Amara..
Day 04 :
Sheinmaga - Thabeikkyin
Leave Sheinmaga at 8:00 am and sail to Thabeikkyin. Visit to Nwe
Nyein (Potery_Village). The river banks get hilly and from now are
they are covered with Teak forest. Small villages along the river
survive from the trade of wood and fishing.
Overnight on board the Amara.
Day 05 :
Thabeikkyin – Tagaung
Set sail at 8:00 am. Our journey will continue upstream until
Tagaung, one of the oldest capitals of Myanmar. Excursion into
Tagaung. Overnight and dinner on board the Amara just north of
Tagaung. Overnight on board the Amara.
Day 06 :
Tagaung - Katha
Set sail at 8:00 am. This day we will reach till Katha, a beautiful
town with a colorful market, friendly people and a unique
atmosphere. Katha is known from the book "Burmese Days", written by
George Orwell. Dinner and overnight on board the Amara, moored at
the harbor of Katha. Overnight on board the Amara.
Day 07 :
Katha – Shwegu
Depart from Katha at 8:00 amand sail this day till Shwegu. This day
there is a good chance of seeing the famous Ayeyarwaddy Dolphin,
quite common in this area. Amara will stop at the opposite river
bank of Shwegu near the pagodas of Shwe Baw Kyunn thousands of
pagodas can be found at this place, probably built around the 10th
century. Overnight on board the Amara.
Day 08 :
Shwegu - Bhamo
Set sail at 8:00 am. We will pass the Second Defile this day. At
this place the river banks become a steep cliff. The scenery is
amazing. In the afternoon the Amara will arrive in Bamaw, the most
northern place the Amara can reach. Overnight and dinner on board
the Amara.
Day 09 :
Breakfast on houseboat. After breakfast check-out from houseboat.
