Day 01:
Arrive in Yangon
Arrive at Yangon airport. Meet/assist upon arrival and transfer to
hotel. Afternoon, a city tour Yangon includes visits to the National
Museum, Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda's 70m long reclining Buddha and
Myanmar’s holiest monument, the Shwedagon Pagoda with its gold
covered Stupa. Overnight in Yangon.
Day 02
Yangon – Mandalay
Breakfast at hotel. After breakfast transfer to the airport to board
the flight to Mandalay. On arrival transfer to hotel. Morning a
sightseeing tour of Mandalay, Myanmar’s cultural capital, features
Mahamuni Pagoda, famous for its venerable statue of Buddha covered
with gold leaf. Mandalay has long been known as a centre of skilled
craftsmanship and in former times supplied the royal courts. A tour
of traditional workshops includes crafts such as woodcarving, marble
masonry, Kalaga tapestry and gold leaf making. Afternoon visit the
Kuthodaw Pagoda with its 729 marble stone slabs of Buddhist
scriptures (known as the world’s biggest book) and Shwenandaw
Monastery, noted for its exquisite woodcarving. Enjoy the sunset
from Mandalay Hill. Overnight in Mandalay.
Day 03: BOARD AMARA RIVER CRUISE
Mandalay – Mingun – Ava (Shwe Kyet Yet Jetty)
Breakfast at hotel. After breakfast embark on the Amara River Cruise
in the morning at about 0900 hrs. Sail north of Mandalay along the
Ayeyarwaddy River to Mingun. Visit the Mingun Bell, weighing 90
tones is the biggest hanging undamaged bell in the world; Shin Byume
Pagoda, and the unfinished Mingun Pagoda, a colossal brick monument.
Lunch on boat and sail back to Mandalay and visit Amarapura Town's
famous wooden U Bein Bridge, two hundred years old and 1.2 km long,
to view the sunset. Dinner and overnight on board the Amara..
Day 04:
Ava - Semikhong
After breakfast, visit the former Royal Capital of Inwa (Ava),
reached by a short boat trip. Visit the Nan Myint Watch Tower, the
only remaining palace building nicknamed "leaning tower of Ava";
Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery, built of brick and stucco and the
all-teak and carved BAGAYA Monastery. Sail down to Bagan on the way
visit Semikhong Village with it's old wooden monasteries and
colorful market. Overnight at a sandbank near Yandopo Village.
Day 05 :
Yandabo - Bagan
In the early morning, set sail for Bagan and in the afternoon arrive
to Yandabo, a small rural village that is well known for a treaty
signed here between the British and Burmese in 1826. Now the village
is famous for its handmade terracotta pots produced in traditional
ways. Arrive at Bagan in the late afternoon. Overnight and dinner on
board the Amara.
Day 06:
Bagan
After breakfast on board checkout from houseboat and transfer to
hotel. Morning sightseeing features the colorful Nyaung Oo Market,
the Shwezigon Pagoda and its magnificent golden stupa, Wetkyi-In
Gubyaukgyi, a cave temple with exquisite jatakas murals paintings
and the elegant Htilominlo Temple noted for its fine plaster
carvings and glazed sandstone decorations. In the afternoon observe
the process of traditional lacquerware, one of the best-known
Myanmar handicrafts and a specialty of Bagan. Visit Ananda, an
architectural masterpiece of the early-style temple with two
original standing Buddha images whose facial expressions change
depending on the distance the statue is viewed from. The Ananda
Okkyaung is one of the few surviving brick monasteries from the
early Bagan period and the next temple to be visited, Thatbyinnyu,
is the highest in Bagan, rising to 61 metres. Evening transfer to
the airport for flight to Yangon. On arrival in Yangon transfer to
hotel for overnight stay.
Day 07:
Departure
Breakfast at hotel. Timely transfer to the airport for return/onward
flight.
